Hotel review-Lake Pichola Hotel Udaipur

Hotel review-Lake Pichola Hotel Udaipur

Fascinating view from the hotel-Lake Pichola

  • Classification: Three Stars

  • Room Category: Deluxe rooms (Lake Facing)

  • Month of Stay: October

Why you will love it?

My visit to Udaipur was long awaited and to stay on the bank of Lake Pichola is a dream of every traveler. I also wanted to do the same but without burdening my budget too much. After a little research on the internet I came across the Lake Pichola Hotel Udaipur. It is a heritage property and a part of the old mansion that belonged to the Rajput Clan has been converted into a hotel.
Lake Pichola Udaipur is a legendary palace situated on the peaceful island of "Bramhapuri" on the western Banks of Lake Pichola overlooking the magnificent City Palace. This hotel has 25 rooms with 19 lake facing deluxe rooms and 4 Palatial Suites. All four suites and the deluxe rooms offer breathtaking views of the Old City, City Palace, Jag Mandir and the serene waters of the Lake itself. Sitting in the balcony I felt like I had travelled to the era of Kings and Queens. Here I would like to tell you a little about Udaipur. It would not be an exaggeration if we call it the Kashmir of Rajasthan – breathtakingly romantic and beautiful place.

Check in process:

It was very cordial and hassle free process. The Staff was well behaved and very helpful. When I stepped in the hotel I felt like I had entered an old Haveli of Rajasthan. The reception on the left side of the Darbar Hall was adorned with old chandeliers and artifacts. There were two people available on the reception one of who was clad in bright yellow sari and traditional Rajasthan jewellery. She welcomed me in a traditional way with Arti Tikka and garland. I sighted a lift also in the hotel which is normally not found in heritage buildings. While I was checking in the glimpse of the lake fascinated me.

The Room:

I checked in the deluxe room. It was a lake facing room on the 2nd floor. It was very elegantly done decorated with traditional and antique pieces. The bed was very cozy and comfortable. The walls of the room were decorated with multi-sized photographs of the monuments of Udaipur, reminiscing of the royal era. The Room was equipped with a mid-size flat screen LCD TV.

The bathroom was well maintained and provided nice toiletries and bathroom accessories like bath robe & sleepers.

The highlight of the room was the balcony cum waranda covered with the traditional wooden stick curtains. There were two easy chairs to sit and relax. One can spend hours and hours while watching the the beauty of the lake from there. The view from my room was fabulous, marvelous and blissful.

The Pool:

Hotel lake Pichola has a Swimming pool on the 3rd floor next to the restaurant Upre. It’s a small pool yet beautiful and well maintained. You can enjoy your drink while relaxing in the pool. Kids will love this place a lot. There is a separate rooftop for sun bath one level above the swimming pool. The 360 view of the city is equally magnificent from this place.

The food:

The roof top restaurant Upre, literally means a place situated on the heights in Rajasthan. As it is a roof top restaurant so they decided to give it a traditional name. The view from the restaurant is brilliant. The ambiance is very nice and romantic, dim light, lovely view of the city palace in the back drop. The food is good. I enjoyed the ambiance more.

I had my breakfast in Darbar Hall the next morning. It felt like I am a guest of some royal family. There was a musician playing Santur for us. The breakfast was nice too.

The Location:

Overall Lake Pichola Hotel was the perfect location for stay in the old city-Udaipur in a mid-budget range. Reaching to that place itself a heritage walk, the narrow lanes of the old city, very close to the Ghats makes this hotel special. The famous Amrai Ghat is at the distance of half a kilometer from the hotel and the breathtaking view from the room and the Darbar Hall is indeed out of this world.

Till we meet next with a new property review.

Be happy and keep travelling.
