UPRE-The most romantic restaurant in Udaipur

Imagine a city of lake and
An evening by the lakeside
Under the moon-light
U & me and the magnificent view of the city palace & the ghats
When lights flickering on the water
When the wind sings
Be seated in front of me until the morning

Yes an anonymous poet has well described the feelings about this place. This small poem has been written for non-other than a very famous roof top restaurant of Udaipur Upre. This elegant restaurant in Lake Pichola hotel offers fine dining along with authentic Mewari cuisine in a beautiful setting.  This multi cuisine restaurant just not offer the good food but the best view of Lake Pichola, city palace and Amrai ghat. It provides a panoramic view of the beautiful landscape of old city-Udaipur.

When I first time came to know about this restaurant I was wondering about its unusual name- UPRE.

What does it mean? I thought that Udaipur is very famous in French people, may be this name came from their language but I was wrong. When I checked with the restaurant manager he told me that in Rajasthani language UPRE means a place on the upper floor.

Location

The location of this restaurant is very prominent. It is situated on the top floor of Lake Pichola Hotel. Lake Pichola Udaipur is a legendary palace situated on the peaceful island of “Bramhapuri” on the western Banks of Lake Pichola overlooking the magnificent City Palace.

Let me tell you little more about Udaipur. It is considered one of India’s most romantic destinations among foreign tourists. According to a young entrepreneur & hotelier Saurabh Arya-Udaipur is on the top of wish list of the foreign tourist but There is no choice except landing in Delhi first because Udaipur does not have an international airport otherwise 99% foreign tourist wants to visit Udaipur first.

This statement clearly says that foreign tourists love this city a lot. Udaipur has got many names like Venice of the East, city of the lakes and Kashmir of Rajasthan

Food:

Rajasthan is the land of Thar Desert, Maharajas and it is known for royalness and legacy of the Rathores. This part of India has desert so availability of green vegetables are not so easy as compared to other parts of India but it does not stop the passion of food. The have developed many techniques of culinary art. Which helps them to prepare rich food with lots of dry herbs, vegetables and spices.  In spite of the fact that Rajasthan is the land of desert,  the Rajasthani cuisine has plenty of delicacies to offer like Dal Bati Churma. Laal Maas, Mohan Maas, Ker Sangri along with Bajre Ki roti, Gatte ki Sabzi, Rajasthani Kadi and Shahi tukda.

The staff was very gentle and well behaved. Make sure you reserve a table in advance to avoid the long-standing queue at the restaurant.

To be very honest I was impressed with UPRE more for the view and the food later. I would recommend every food enthusiast for taste Lal Mas at least once. I would love to visit this place again for a wonderful evening with someone special.
